This is the last wedding reception recipe post–until the next books come out, of course. 🙂 Firefly Cranberry Cocktails are made with Firefly brand Vodka steeped with sweet tea made on Wadmalaw Island, SC, across from the sea island where my husband grew up. Since it’s a low country sea island drink, and Savannah is only an hour away, I have no doubt these were served at Boudreaux’s for Rafe and Juliet’s reception. The original cocktails are made with lemonade, but because it’s a wedding I thought these were prettier.
A number of people have asked me about this fictional island and why, if it was settled in the 1600’s by pirates and Puritans, there’s a Cajun restaurant named Boudreaux’s hidden within the woods. In the world of my Deadly Force Series, the Boudreaux family left Louisiana for Georgia in 1750 after a bitter feud with another family. It’s a story that plays out later in the series, but for now adds local color and interest to the stories. The Isle’s sheriff is Sheriff Jimmy Boudreaux and his brother Tommy, also the Deputy Sheriff, runs this outdoor restaurant that sits near a river, beneath enormous live oaks, where the only illumination is from tiny lights hanging within the tree limbs and the stars on a cloudless night.
So enjoy these cocktails . . . but fair warning. They’re pretty and go down easily, yet with a 50/50 mix they’re quite potent!
Firefly Cranberry Cocktails

- few dashes sweetened lime juice to taste
- sugared cranberries for garnish

-

These drinks will get even the most shy person on the dance floor, and I’m sure the live band is playing this waltz.
