Welcome to the second round of Iron Rack’s Movie Night with the men of the Deadly Forces Series and their Bacon & Tomato Dip!

Not surprising but since last week’s post, the men are still eating and drinking. And tonight they’re serving Bacon & Tomato Dip. It’s one of my favorite appetizers because it’s super easy and can be changed with whatever ingredients you like. Make it spicier, smokier, even add more bacon!

Nate Walker, the XO of the unit of ex-Green Berets who live in Iron Rack’s Gym, is still making sure everyone is relaxing and is now rethinking his choice of movie. He’d chosen Saw II, but . . . well, not everyone is a fan of slasher pics!

Nate Walker – “I’m actually drinking a beer. I can’t remember the last time I took a deep breath yet tonight I’m relaxing on a patio, despite it being winter in Savannah, and eating fabulous food (like that Bacon & Tomato Dip) and with my friends. There’s music and laughter and lots of ribbing and teasing . . . just like the old days when we were a real unit.

Unfortunately I’ve just remembered that Vane, one of my men, doesn’t like scary or slashery (is that a real word?) movies. Vane is such a scaredy-cat when it comes to violence on the big screen that, despite being a fierce, combat-tested ex-Green Beret himself, he’d rather go back to clean the gym than hang out with us.

Although I know the rest of the men want to watch Saw IV in all it’s gory brilliance, I have to switch movies. I’m just not sure which to choose. Zack suggested Night of the Living Dead but Vane hates zombies. Luke wants Halloween but Vane doesn’t like suspense. Pete wants the 1971 movie Dracula vs. Frankenstein but that’s too cheesy even for me. So I’m going to show a classic comedy-horror that everyone loves: Young Frankenstein.

If the men drink enough beer, maybe they won’t notice the lack of violence or gore!”
